Custom Lights Add Style, Safety To Materials Handling Vehicles

Perhaps you were recently driving a nearby Interstate and came upon a car or pickup truck that included custom lighting. The first thing you probably thought was how would lights like that look on my SUV or pickup. If you’re a materials handling employee who drives a forklift or other MH vehicle, then expand your thinking. Consider the advantages of custom lights on your forklift or other vehicle.
TYRI, with U.S. offices in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, has been designing custom lights for vehicles for more than 40 years. The vehicles they have designed custom lighting for include materials handling vehicles used in warehouse operations. For example, the company recently partnered with Toyota Material Handling to design a rear lighting bar for the Toyota Traigo80, a truck that was awarded with A German Design Award.
The Creation Process
The company employs a design team that produces the exterior design and a team of technicians that manage the conditions that brings everything together to create the light with all the desired requirements.
The designers use 3D technologies to show how the vehicle would look with the suggested lights and the light image the contraption creates.
Once they have a concept, they construct a prototype that they test in their own examination setting. The process is the same for designing a one off custom lighting system and how they develop new lights for mas-production.
Cost Analysis
The cost of your own custom light system in comparison to mass-produced lights don’t necessary have to be extreme. Often, the technicians use items that are already available, an ideal situation if the requirement is for a small volume. The production looks the same, no matter what kind of light it is. Additional costs that remain are for design, development and testing.
Custom lights present you with the opportunity to create your own design. You can specify how bright the light should be, the color of the light, whether it should be a warm or cold light. You tell TYRI what you want and they create the specifications that make it work.
Not only will your forklift look unique, it is equipped with a lighting system that is specifically designed to your warehouse and includes particular features that enhance the safety element so that forklift-pedestrian encounters don’t have to lead to injuries or even death.
