Optical Safety Product Expands Visible Warning Around Forklifts
Panacea Aftermarket Company, a supplier of forklift parts and safety accessories, has introduced the Boss: Beast Optical Safety Surround.”
he product projects a blue silhouette of the forklift so that pedestrians in its proximity will see that a lift is nearby.
The device expands the visible warning both around as well as in front of the forklift, not just in the rear.
The Surround includes two components –- a U-shaped arc light at the rear of the lift and a “curtain” of lights on the sides.
The surround has been re-engineered from a previous product so that the light it projects I 30 percent brighter and 30 percent small that the older model.
The Beast Optical Surround System includes new technology in industrial LED safety lighting and advanced optics.
Creating the Boss: Beast Optical Safety Surround was not a slam-dunk. There were challenges that had to be overcome. One major issue was the heat of the product due to its small size. The issue was solved with a bronze circuit board rather then a less efficient aluminum circuit board. This is an industry first.
The product has already proved essential in saving lives and reducing injuries in the workplace. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as many as 110 deaths and 92,000 injuries occur in forklift-pedestrian accidents a year. The number one cause of forklift-related deaths is due to forklifts striking pedestrians.
A visual example of how effective the product is appears at the panaceaco.com site. There are versions of the product available that project the colors red, blue, or green to the floor of a warehouse. The device costs $210 with immediate delivery.
